The Ivan Torchanov Prize

The Ivan Torchanov Prize​​​​​​​​​​​ is given in honor of the distinguished Bulgarian pianist and pedagogue IVAN TORCHANOV (1886-1928). A graduate of the Vienna Conservatory and student of Godowsky and Busoni, Torchanov was a highly-regarded solo performer and was among the first piano professors at the Bulgarian State Music Academy. Among his students were Jenny Kovacheva, Otto Libich, Lyubomir Pipkov, and Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin.
